Spaceport Esrange
Europe's polar gateway to Space
The satellite launch service is part of a broader project aimed at establishing Esrange as a center of excellence, providing a wide range of services to both the scientific community and commercial customers as well as the defense industry.
The facility has a well-equipped infrastructure and experienced staff with expertise in range safety, launch procedures, and handling large rocket motors for guided rocket launches. In addition to the launch service, coordinated measurements using satellites, sounding rockets, balloons, and ground instrumentation are feasible.
Supported by SSC’s global satellite ground station network, this service can also be complemented by additional space-to-ground services.
Payload and orbit details
The launch service is designed for satellites weighing up to 1000 kg, primarily focusing on micro and mini-satellites. SSC aims to offer rideshare opportunities for CubeSats and smaller payloads.
This service will enable orbits suitable for sun-synchronous, polar low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites.
