SSC recently signed a collaboration agreement with VIRAC in Latvia. This collaboration will add capabilities to support lunar and deep space missions, using the large VIRAC radio telescope antennas, while continuing to support radio astronomy. The service will be part of the SSC Global Ground Network.
VIRAC (Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre) at Ventspils University College (VUC) is a science education center specializing in the implementation of future research services in the field of space technology and signal processing. The SSC support of their large – 16m and 32m – radio telescope antennas will combine VIRAC’s and SSC’s competences to work for enabling interdisciplinary use of antennas.
