SSC welcomes the expanded collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Australian Space Agency (ASA), in the announcement of their mandate to begin negotiations on a Cooperative Agreement.
Building on more than 40 years of ESA–ASA cooperation and SSC’s own 25-year presence in Australia this milestone opens new opportunities in space science programs and missions.
“This agreement between ESA and ASA marks an important step in international space collaboration. With more than two decades of experience in Australia, SSC is well positioned to support future missions and to strengthen the link between Europe and Australia, continuing to build the value of space,” says Charlotta Sund, President and CEO at SSC.
“Australia and Europe have already built very solid foundations for collaboration in space, as exemplified by Swedish Space Corporation’s longstanding partnership with Australia. We look forward to growing this partnership further. Our space agencies are to be commended for pursuing a Cooperation Agreement which will further accelerate both collaboration and benefits,” says Dan Lloyd CEO at the Space Industry Association of Australia (SIAA).
Through its global ground stations network, including key ground station capability in Western Australia, SSC has long supported global missions with launch, LEOP, and routine operations services. Recent examples include ESA’s EarthCare, Firely Aerospace Blue Ghost Mission-1 and NASA’s Europa Clipper mission.
SSC’s Ground Station as a Service (GSaaS) offering has become a trusted solution for reliable, mission-critical connectivity worldwide. As part of the Australian space ecosystem, SSC is a proud member of the Space Industry Association of Australia (SIAA), underlining its commitment to Australian partnerships and the nation’s growing ambitions in space.
The ESA–ASA agreement, aligns closely with SSC’s global capabilities in space situational awareness, data analytics, and remote asset management. As a long-term partner to both ESA and ASA, SSC is ready to contribute to the next generation of collaborative missions. SSC welcomes ESA and ASA’s initiative and looks forward to contributing to the joint roadmap for future cooperation in peaceful space exploration.
