Our goal at SSC, the Swedish Space Corporation, is to help our customers with their space missions. We offer communication services for spacecraft around the Earth and beyond from a world-wide network of ground stations. Our customers rely on us and our services as an integral part in their space missions. The field of satellite communication is currently evolving rapidly with a high level of incorporation of new technologies, where software and modern architectures are crucial parts.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced software architect or developer to join our team at SSC. You will work on existing and future ground segment systems, that provides communication services for spacecraft around the Earth and beyond from our global network of ground stations. Our customers include the European Space Agency (ESA), JAXA, DLR, NASA, as well as commercial satellite operators.

 In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and improving end-to-end ground segment services
  • Leading and coordinating technical activities involving multiple organizational parts and disciplines
  • Assessing and analyzing concepts and solutions, including hands-on implementation
  • Preparing technical proposals related to system architecture and capabilities
  • Providing software domain expertise in projects

 To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A Master's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Space Technology, or a related field
  • Experience as a software-oriented systems architect with hands-on experience
  • Proficiency in modern software architectures, including microservices, containers, and cloud computing technologies
  • Documented proficiency in at least one major programming/scripting language
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken

 It is a plus if you have:

  • Experience in the space ground segment domain
  • Experience with telecom architectures such as OSM or ONAP and familiar with terms like SDR, VNF, PNF, SDN, MANO

 

This is a permanent position located in Solna, Sweden (near Stockholm) or potentially Darmstadt, Germany for the right candidate. The work includes travel to other SSC sites and customers. A background check is required for this position.
