SSC’s division, SSC Connect operates a global network of ground stations that are used to track and communicate with an expanding range of scientific, earth observation, navigation, and telecom satellites. The SSC network utilizes both engineering and staffed network operations centers in Sweden, the United States and Chile.

 

YOUR ROLE

In your role as Sales Engineer, you will provide technical support to the Americas SSC Connect Business Development region by interpreting technical requirements, performing engineering analysis and developing ground station solutions that meet customer mission objectives. You will be responsible for establishing good and long-lasting technical relationships with customers together with your colleagues in the business support team. With team support, you will analyze the customers’ needs and take full advantage of defined standard solutions to design winning service solutions for the client. You will document the proposed service in an attractive offering to the customer and be technically responsible during customer presentations, discussions, and negotiations. You will also collaborate closely with the clients to generate an understanding of how SSC’s service portfolio can evolve and how the clients can take full advantage of SSC’s capabilities.

In addition, responsibilities include interfacing with the SSC engineering team, the Strategy & Innovation team, and the Service Delivery organization. Solve complex business problems bringing new concepts into practice in the organization. Work closely with the region’s Chief Engineer to provide clear technical guidance to cross-functional divisions to generate accurate estimations of both costs and risks of advanced space services.

Examples of work tasks:

  • Provide technical solutions for the Americas SSC region.
  • Work closely with Business Development team members and cross-functional technical group to ensure client’s requirements are clearly understood.
  • Design technical solutions that map the SSC present and future capabilities with the customer requirements and expectations.
  • Working with the ground network architectural definition, development and improvement of end-to-end ground segment services based on combined software and hardware systems.
  • Assessment and analysis of concepts and solutions aiming to meet a variety of mission and system requirements.
  • Assessment of the potential and benefits at of new techniques/technologies from the system level perspective.
  • Supporting the preparation of technical proposals in relation to system architecture and capabilities.
  • Encourage global cooperation within the SSC technical disciplines to ensure a customer focus mentality.
  • Engage with key clients to build trust in SSC and ensure that SSC delivers on contract commitments and meets client expectations.
  • Collaborate and encourage collaborations with colleagues across SSC to understand and act upon key market, industry, and technology trends as well as the moves of key competitors.
  • Travel to customer meetings and space industry conference and events when required.

  • You have experience working with systems, preferably both hardware and software, with a strong understanding of ground technologies.

  • Good communications skills coupled with a strong work ethic; ability to work autonomously in a dynamic work environment.
  • Commercial interest and business acumen with an eye for results.
  • It is a merit if you have experience in satellite ground and RF systems.

 

We believe you have:

  • B.S. degree or corresponding experience in Electrical Engineering or Space Technology.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in an engineering design environment but will consider recent college graduates. Preference will be with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Required to have strong RF knowledge, physics and math background or aptitude.
  • General knowledge of IT systems.
  • Experience in software and hardware from both a detailed and systems level.
  • Strong familiarity with modern software architectures, including micro services, containers, and cloud computing technologies.
  • Passion for engineering, space industry and developing technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and candidates must be fluent in English.
  • High level of competence in both technical writing and business acumen.
  • A results-oriented, strategic mindset.

 

LOCATION & CITIZENSHIP

US Citizenship required. This is permanent position, located in Horsham, Pennsylvania. This role may require limited travel. SSC offers hybrid office hours.
