YOUR ROLE  

Since a few years back, SSC invests in new infrastructure at Esrange, offering reusable rocket tests, engine, and fuel tests, as well as launches of satellites, making it the first site on mainland EU with orbital launch capability. The ability to offer a strong and viable orbital launch and rocket test service is a key component as we strengthen our competitiveness and position in the market. To emphasize its strategic importance in achieving our overall financial goals, Orbital Launch & Rocket Test (OLRT) will form a new division within SSC, with its Head reporting directly to the CEO. 

As the divisional head, you will play a critical role in driving OLRT and consequentially SSC towards our strategic targets. You are a member of the Executive Committee (EC) of SSC and take joint responsibility for the vision, mission and goals of the company by collaborating with fellow EC members for the benefit of the group. As an executive at SSC, you are expected to be a role model and representative for the company, acting in line with our company policies, guidelines and values. 

You will lead a diverse, dynamic, and growing organization of approximately 40 skilled and motivated employees, and it is your job to continuously strengthen the team and ensure that they are equipped to execute on SSC strategic goals and business objectives.   

 

YOUR MAIN TASKS 

As a committed and active member of the EC you are expected to collaborate across functions and geographies and: 

  • Lead the planning, development and execution of the business strategy of OLRT to reach set targets and business objectives. 
  • Lead and manage the OLRT organization, fostering a collaborative culture in alignment with SSC values.  
  • Facilitate effective budget management and ensure cost-effectiveness and ROI on investments. 
  • Secure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.  
  • Manage relationships with customers, vendors and service providers in close collaboration with colleagues. 
  • Drive business development, sales and delivery of services to achieve set targets. 
  • Prevent and manage risks within your area of responsibility.

 

WHAT YOU BRING 

This role requires advanced capabilities in managing large, complex technical programs and needless to say the ability to navigate between operational and strategic tasks and perspectives. You have a proven track record in technical leadership roles, preferably in international, commercially driven organizations. A Master’s degree and at least 15 years of senior management and leadership experience is also a requirement. Other important qualifications include: 

  • Extensive experience of budget and resource management. 
  • Inspirational and authentic leadership style. 
  • Ability to work closely with C-suite executives and cross-functional teams. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both Swedish and English. 
  • Experience in navigating complex, matrixed environments.
