Charlotta Sund, President and CEO of SSC Space, and Lennart Poromaa, Head of Esrange Space Center, welcomed the newly appointed U.S. Ambassador, Christine J. Toretti, together with the Swedish National Space Agency’s Director General Ella Carlsson and Magnus Härviden from the Government Offices of Sweden, to a visit at Esrange Space Center.
During the visit, SSC Space described its operations at Esrange and defined the center’s growing role in Europe’s space infrastructure. Discussions also covered Sweden’s national space policy and opportunities for continued United States–Swedish collaboration.

Sweden and the United States share a long, successful history in space activities – where SSC Space has supported NASA, for example, with satellite communication and many stratospheric balloons launches through the years. The visit reinforced the commitment of SSC Space and the Swedish National Space Agency to further deepen transatlantic collaboration in the evolving space domain.
“Our partnership with the United States has delivered real value for decades,” said Charlotta Sund. “With American customers like Firefly Aerospace preparing to launch orbital rockets from Esrange in the coming years, strengthening transatlantic cooperation is key to advancing shared space capabilities.”
