Space is becoming increasingly important for our modern society. With unique capabilities, launch experience and ground-based infrastructure, SSC offers crucial components for a robust Swedish society, a stronger Europe, and a more competitive NATO alliance. At this year’s Almedalen political week in Visby, we’re looking forward to plenty of discussions on this topic – meet us there!
- Emma Stenholm, Chief Security Officer

Apart from face-to-face conversations, roundtable discussions and general mingling with our most important stakeholders in society, SSC will participate in three panel discussions open to the public:
24 June (10.00-11.00 am)
Future space research – a key to societal development and strengthened security
In 2025, the Swedish Space Agency was commissioned to establish three national space programs and a national research school with the aim of strengthening Sweden’s position as a leading space nation. As a leading space hub in Sweden, the Norrbotten region has a key role in this through its unique composition of geographical, technological, research and educational resources. In this panel discussion, hosted by Luleå University of Technology, the participants will discuss the future of Swedish space research, infrastructure and capabilities.

Space as a strategic resource – building Swedish security and independence
In a time of increasing uncertainty and changing threat scenarios, it is crucial to have access to fast, secure and independent communications for Sweden’s ability to protect its interests – both on the civilian and military side. Space plays a key role in creating security and sovereignty, by ensuring robust information transfer on the ground, in the air, at sea and in space. In this panel discussion, hosted by Ovzon, the participants will discuss lessons learned from the war in Ukraine, and how Sweden can build security and sovereignty with space-based technology.

Public healthcare as part of the civil defense preparedness in a troubled world
At a time when the geopolitical situation in the world is changing, healthcare providers and companies have an important role for public security and robust preparedness. In this seminar, hosted by Capio, the participants will discuss how hybrid warfare can affect healthcare infrastructure, how to act on cyberattacks against healthcare systems, and how disinformation can affect both healthcare personnel and patients. We will also explore how private healthcare providers can be integrated into national preparedness planning, what legal requirements that exist and what resources need to be secured.
