At SSC we enables our customers to make better use of space- Through the efforts of our nearly 600 employees around the world, we provide specialized competence in design, test, launch and operation of space and air systems. The science Service Division develops rocket and balloon systems including experiment equipment for microgravity research. We also launch rockets and balloons form Esrange Space Center

We can offer you an exciting position as Systems Engineer where you will work with development and maintenance of communication systems for balloons and rockets. You will work with the entire communication chain ranging from antennas, receivers, data extraction systems to signal transmission equipment. To enjoy the role you like work both practical and theoretical.

You will be part of the Instrumentation department which consists of 10 engineers working together to develop and maintain technical systems for balloons and rockets. Your main tasks are within telecommunication and electronic with emphasis on operative execution.

Campaigns can occur on different times during the year and can also varies in time from a few weeks to months. Campaigns are often effected of the weather which means the work load can vary and be difficult to plan in advance.



  • You have a university degree in telecommunication, electronic or corresponding experience.
  • You are detail-oriented and characterized by your ability to collaborate with colleagues.
  • You are flexible and like to work with continuous improvements and new solutions.
  • You have good English communication skills since you will work with colleagues and customers around the globe.
  • A driver license is a requirement, to be able to get to work outside office hours. We have bus connections between Kiruna and Esrange within normal office hours.

We offer a permanent position with normal working ours daytime 40h/week. As part of our team you will take part in rocket & balloon campaigns which are scheduled outside normal working hours. Work on other locations may also occur during campaigns.

Your workplace will be at Esrange/Kiruna.
Esrange Space Center is the launch and operations facility of SSC, located outside Kiruna in the north of Sweden. At Esrange we have excellent launching facilities and provide services to scientists and space organizations worldwide
