Java Software Development Engineer (m/f/d)

 

to work within a team of software and spacecraft operations engineers to develop  software for an exciting space mission.

 

 

The core tasks will be:

  • Software development for the next-generation Spacecraft Monitoring & Control System of a flagship space mission
  • Technical lead design and implementation of sub-components of the system in compliance with the overall system architecture
  • Technical documentation of implementation in Wiki system and UML Model (experience in MBSE would be an asset)
  • Pro-active evolution of current technology stack throughout the initial development phase and subsequent maintenance phase

 

Your profile:

Essential skills are:

  • Proficiency in Java 8
  • Proficiency in Apache Karaf (OSGi) Framework and OSGi methodology
  • DevOps mindset and experience in CI/CD pipelines based on Nexus, Jenkins, Git and Docker
  • Experience in agile software development lifecycles
  • Experience in Linux environments and supplementary scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python)
  • Fluency in English

Desirable skills would be:

  • Knowledge of Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
  • Experience in Kubernetes and Docker deployments
  • Experience in web-frontend development based on the React library
  • Experience in Apache ServiceMix platform
  • Advanced debugging and troubleshooting skills in Kubernetes, Docker and OSGi deployments

 

Academic requirements: a University (or similar) degree in computer science, engineering or similar discipline.

The position is located in our new office in Gilching, close to Munich, and on DLR premises in Oberpfafffenhofen.
