USN supports commercial resupply mission to the ISS RSS

18 Aug 2014

USN provides ground network services to all phases of Orbital’s Cygnus CRS Orb-2 mission.

In mid-July, the Cygnus CRS Orb-2 spacecraft successfully rendezvoused and berthed with the International Space Station (ISS) delivering 1,666 kg. of cargo, experiments, and supplies for ISS operations.

USN and its parent company SSC have, together with Telespazio, provided multiple passes enabling critical communications links during while the spacecraft was in transit, and continue to do so while it is berthed with the ISS.

USN, SSC and Telespazio are proud to be a part of this important transition to commercial provisioning of the ISS, which is essential to the ongoing operations and success of the ISS. The CRS Orb-2 mission is the second of eight resupply missions to the ISS under NASA’s Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) contract, for which USN provides ground network services for all mission phases.
