NASA Super Pressure Balloon launched RSS

After a 49 day launch campaign with 23 launch attempts the NASA Super Pressure Balloon is finally launched.

At 05:45 local time, Tuesday morning August 14, 2012, NASA SPB (Super Pressure Balloon) was launched from Esrange Space Center.

The launch took place in near perfect weather conditions after a 49 day launch campaign with 23 launch attempts.

The balloon is expected to land in the north of Sweden after performing tests of the balloon for a minimum of 1 hour on float altitude, which is 110 000 feet . 16 cameras are present on-board, looking at the shape and expansion of the balloon.​
