40 years in space

Successful space activities since 1972

EsrangeOn 1 July 1972, the state-owned Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) was founded, with the initial objective to provide technical support to the new government space agency and the Swedish space program. SSC took over the sounding rocket activities at the European space base Esrange, and within a few years, commenced its balloon operations.

SSC soon widened its expertise to include development of satellite components and entire satellite systems, as well as satellite management services and development of airborne maritime surveillance systems. During the years, SSC has grown into a well-reputed global group of companies, with a total of 600 employees.

Bringing our experience and commitments into the next exciting decade, we thank all our customers and partners for the past 40 years, and look forward to the years to come!
